I have been eyeing the Blackberry Bold for some time as an upgrade to my BB 8320. I have upgraded the OS of the BB 8320 several times, and even though OS 4.5 has a lot of the features of OS 4.6, it still left me wanting a more powerful mobile device. Since getting my Blackberry last year, I have come to heavily depend on this fantastic little device for all sorts of important tasks. I've taken a look at the iphones recently, but to be honest, the touch keyboard didn't go well with my big fingers. Also, I actually like the simplicity and stability of the Blackberry OS. It may not be as innovative as the iphone, but I rarely have problems with it. Plus the new screen on the Bold kicks the iphone's ass hands down!
I've learned some valuable lessons on how to persuade sales folks to give you a better deal from my buddy Jon Hettel. I was able to convince the sales manager at my cell phone provider to give me the handset upgrade deal even though I already used it last year and didn't qualify for it. It sure does pay off to be persistent. Hell, they try to rip you off from the get go, so I'm not loosing any sleep over getting another $100 off! Combine that with the current special, one free month of BB service, and I saved $150! Every small victory in the market place feels good.
Cyndi has had this crappy Samsung phone for the past year that I almost killed recently with some Gatorade. so I set her up with my old BB. So now she can easily check text messages, facebook, email, etc. Plus, its an excellent mobile phone. I'm hoping that it will improve our ability to keep in touch while we are both at work. I think once she gets used to it, she's going to really like it a lot. I think the text messaging has the potential to really help us coordinate kid pick ups, etc.
